Question
Solutions of sodium carbonate and silver nitrate react to form solid silver carbonate and a solution of sodium nitrate. A solution containing 3.10g of sodium carbonate is mixed with one containing 4.43 of silver nitrate.
How many grams of sodium carbonate are present after the reaction is complete?
??g
How many grams of silver nitrate are present after the reaction is complete?
How many grams of silver carbonate are present after the reaction is complete?
How many grams of sodium nitrate are present after the reaction is complete?
m =??g
Explanation / Answer
Balanced eqyation is Na2CO3 + 2AgNO3 - Ag2CO3 + 2NaNO3
from the given data silver nitrate is limiting reagant so it will be fully consumed
A)- moles of sodium carbonate left = 0.0062 mass left = 0.287 gm
B)- moles of silver nitrate left = 0 mass= 0 gm
C)- 2 mol AGNO3 reacts to produce 1 mol AG2Co3 0.026 mol AGNO3 will produce 0.026 x 0.5 = 0.013 mol
mass in gms = 0.013 x 276 = 3.596 gm
D)- 2 mol AGNO3 produce 2 mol sodium nitrate 0.026 mol will produce 0.026 mol NaNO3
mass in gms = 0.026 x 85 = 2.215 gm
