Question
Please help in solving these folowing problems by showing their steps including their solutions. Thanks
75 mL of 12m HCl solution are diluted to 1.75L what is the molarity of the final solution?
A scientist wants to make 1.5L of a 3M H2SO4 solution, how many mL of 18MN concentrated acid would she use?
How many ml 18 H2SO4 is diluted to make 300 mL of 0.50M solution?
What is the molarity of a 3.0L solution prepared by dilution of 250 mL of a 6.0M solution of KCL?
How many mL of 10.9M AGNO3 would be needed for 3500 mL of a 6.0M AGNO3 solution?
HCl is 12M you need to dilute it to make 500 mL of 3M, how many mL's needed?
Many thanks
Explanation / Answer
1) number of moles of solute = molarity of solution*volume of solution in litres
since moles of HCl does not change
therefore, (M1)*(V1) = (M2)*(V2)
or, 12*0.075 = (M2)*1.75
or, M2 = 0.5143
hence the final molarity = 0.5143 M
2) (M1)*(V1) = (M2)*(V2)
or, 3*1.5 = 18*(V2)
or, (V2) = 0.25 litres = 250 mL
3) (M1)*(V1) = (M2)*(V2)
or, 6*0.25 = (M2)*3
or, M2 = 0.5
hence the molarity of the final solution = 0.5 M
4) (M1)*(V1) = (M2)*(V2)
or, 3500*6 = 10.9*(V2)
or, (V2) = 1926.61 mL
thus, 1926.61 mL of 10.9M AGNO3 would be needed for 3500 mL of a 6.0M AGNO3 solution
5) (M1)*(V1) = (M2)*(V2)
or, 500*3 = 12*(V2)
or, (V2) = 125 mL
THUS, 125 mL of 12M is needed to dilute it to make 500 mL of 3M
