Question
Procedure:
Measuring the energy content in food samples
Obtain a food sample. Write food label information from the “Nutrition Facts” on package into the Food Label Table.
Impale approximately a 1-gram food sample onto the sample holder. Record the mass of the sample holder and food sample in the Data Table.
Place the sample holder with food sample onto the cookie sheet.
Place the empty, dry soda can (with the pencil) on the balance and tare (zero) the mass.
Add 100-grams of cool (~15 to 20°C) tap water to the soda can and record the exact weight of the water in the Data Table.
Exactly measure the temperature of the water in the soda can and record the temperature into the Data Table.
With a wooden match or butane lighter, ignite the bottom of the food sample. Note that lighting the food sample at the bottom will allow for a more sustained and complete combustion of the sample.
Quickly assemble the rest of the apparatus as described above.
Stir the water vigorously with the thermometer until the food sample stops burning. Record the highest water temperature achieved in the Data Table.
Once the apparatus has cooled enough to touch, disassemble the apparatus.
Measure and record the mass of the sample holder and the un-combusted food sample.
Discard the water and clean the sample holder to remove all remaining food sample.
Repeat steps 1-12 for the other food samples.

Please answer the following questions:
1. What energy content did you measure for the three food items?
2. What is the energy content based on the label information?
3. Compare the amount of Protein/Carbohydrate/Fat in the three food items and make some conclusion about the energy content of these three. To be clearer, what is the energy content of a carbohydrate compared to a fat compared to a protein? You may be able to find that information online.1.

Explanation / Answer
1.The three food items contains more energy contents of carbhohydrates and protiens and less in fat .
2 According to label information energy content means quantity of serving food items and relation with content of protien ,fat and carbhohydrate producing kilocalories .
3,The quantity of marshmallow is 30g and it contains 0g fat 24gcarbohydrate and 19gprotien same time almond and potatochips quantity is 28g whichmeans only 2gm increased comparing to marshmallow and having more fat and less carbohydrate and protien comparing from Marsallow. Finally concludes that Marshmallow provide less calorie than other two food items and almond and potato chips serving quantity also less but energy contents are more.
