Poecilia and Gambusia fish usage is a form of larval source management. These fish are introduced in water sources and they feed on mosquito larvae. This helps in larval elimination and hence affects mosquito breeding thereby reducing malaria transmission. The breeding places of mosquito larvae cannot be subject to chemical insecticide use in many cases and hence introduction of fishes is a sound way of vector control.
