Question
Draw the products
Draw the major organic product(s) for the following reaction. Multiple products may be drawn in one box, in any order. Use an expanded octet around sulfur to avoid formal charges. Shown on the left is a cationic intermediate for the electro phi lic addition of chlorine to the para position of phenol. Draw the resonance structure that is the major contributor. Include all nonbonding electrons. Pyridine reacts with hydroxide by nucle phi lic aromatic substitution. Complete the mechanism by drawing curved arrows, the structure of the charged intermediate, and the structure of the major uncharged product. All non-bonding electrons must be shown, including those associated with charges. Draw the correct aromatic organic product for the following reaction. (If no reaction, draw the starting material.)Explanation / Answer
(1) Subsitution of SO3H in Ortho position in place of H.
(2) In resonating strutures , positive charge will be transfered in 1, 3, 5 carbon aton in 3 resonation structures, where 3 and 5 will be same.
(3) In case of pyridene, if there will be double bond between O and C atom, then it will be called chared structure, otherwise it' ll be uncharged.
(4) rEACTION OF kMO4 with Carbon atom will give COOH group thus above reaction will give benzoic acid.
(5) 1st reaction is freidal craft alkylation in which only alkyl group will be there as shown in final profuct . reaction with Hno3 gives NO2 in para postion.
