Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a glycoprotein secreted by anterior pituitary in response to hormone (gonadotropin releasing hormone) secreted by hypothalamus. Another gonadotropin hormone known as luteinizing hormone (LH) also secreted by anterior pituitary. These two hormones contain alpha and beta subunits. And beta subunit is found to have biological activity. Low level of FSH is associated with azoospermia and oligozoospermia condition. Terminologies define no or less amount of sperm respectively.
