Shaw your calculatians here and recerd your calculated R at the top of table 2. (bl What are the voltage drops R Ra, and R. Shew your calculations here and record your VI, Va and V table 2. e) What are the currents though R. Ra and R i? Show your calculatians here and record your calculated and in table 2. d) If the resisters were connected inparallel, what is the total resistance? Show your calculatians here and record your answer as calculated R at the top oftable3

Explanation / Answer

a)

when resistors are connected in series

Req = R1+R2

Req = 30+40

Req = 70 ohm

b)

since they are in series

V1 = 9 (R1/R1+R2)

V1 = 3.857 V

similarily

V2 = V1 = 9 (R2/R1+R2)

V2 = 5.14 V

voltage across Req is

Veq = 9 V

c)

Current in R1 R2 and Req will be same

i = 9 / 70 = 0.1285 A

d)

when they are connected in parallel

1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/ R2

Req = 17.14 ohm
