A. How many total moles of oxygen gas can be generated through this decomposition?
B. If this oxygen is formed within the bottle described in question 1, what change in pressure would be predicted?
plz show steps
Explanation / Answer
A.
mass of 20 mL solution = 20 * 1.0 = 20 g
mass of H2O2 in 20 mL solution = 20*6/100 = 1.2 g
mol of H2O2 in 2o mL solution = 1.2*34 = 40.8 mol
as 1 mol of H2O2 produces 0.5 mol of O2 therefore
mol of O2 produced = 40.8*0.5 = 20.4 mol
B.
As gaseous species is produced during the reaction therefore pressure within the bottle will increase.
