Explanation / Answer
A.Convergent boundaries between two pieces of continental lithosphere produces
Typically continental plate convergence will result in an orogeny event, or a mountain building event. As the plates converge, the crust will deform, but there will be no plate subduction, and so continent to continent convergence is not related to volcanism. Large thrust faults are often associated with continental convergence zones as well.
B.how the effects of natural hazards are linked to population growth
Areas that are prone to natural disasters limit the space that population can spread to. Nevertheless, such areas are becoming settled, despite the economic and health hazards of living in disaster-prone areas.
C. The warning time for a volcanic eruption is generally _________the warning time for an earthquake.

D.The two main styles of volcanic eruption are explosive and _______.
Effusive volcanoes
E.Convergent boundaries between two pieces of continental lithosphere produce?its?

F.At subduction zones, magma is generated by ?
where volcanoes are in the world, as well as a map of where earthquakes are in the world (they might be shown on the same map). Either way you will easily see that earthquakes and volcanoes are found in the same places (particularly at subduction zones) so there must be some sort of connection there. Unfortunately, some books say that both the earthquakes and the volcanoes are caused by friction - rubbing of the top of the downgoing plate against the bottom of the overlying plate. This may be the cause of some of the shallowest subduction-zone earthquakes but it is not the cause of the intermediate or deep ones, and it is definitely NOT the way magma is produced. The simple answer is that rocks break, and much like when you break a dry brittle stick, energy is released in the form of sound - earthquake waves are just sound waves traveling through the body of the earth. What if you try to break a green stick? You can often bend a green stick a lot but it doesn't break . Instead it deforms ductilly. A little bit of energy is released in the form of heating the stick but there is no sudden release of a lot of energy and consequently no sound. There aren't analogous "green" rocks, but there ARE ductile rocks. If you heat rocks, particularly under pressure, they also don't break but instead they behave ductilly. Where is a good place to find hot rocks under pressure? Beneath the surface of the Earth, of course! In fact if you are out in the middle of a tectonic plate and therefore away from edge effects, below about 100 km the rocks are too ductile to fracture and you therefore won't get any earthquakes there that are deeper than about 100 km.
G.The explosivity of a volcanic eruption generally increases with?
There is a great range in the explosivity of volcanic eruptions. Many eruptions are relatively quiescent and are characterized by the calm, nonviolent extrusion of lava flows on the earth's surface. Other eruptions, however, are highly explosive and are characterized by the violent ejection of fragmented volcanic debris, called tephra, which can extend tens of kilometers into the atmosphere above the volcano. The amount of dissolved gas in the magma provides the driving force for explosive eruptions. The viscosity of the magma, however, is also an important factor in determining whether an eruption will be explosive or nonexplosive. A low-viscosity magma, like basalt, will allow the escaping gases to migrate rapidly through the magma and escape to the surface. However, if the magma is viscous, like rhyolite, its high polymerization will impede the upward mobility of the gas bubbles. As gas continues to exsolve from the viscous melt, the bubbles will be prevented from rapid escape, thus increasing the overall pressure on the magma column until the gas ejects explosively from the volcano. As a general rule, therefore, nonexplosive eruptions are typical of basaltic-to-andesitic magmas which have low viscosities and low gas contents, whereas explosive eruptions are typical of andesitic-to-rhyolitic magmas which have high viscosities and high gas contents.
H. Many tsunami, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, are generated by large earthquakes along.
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was an undersea megathrust earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on Sunday, 26 December 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The quake itself is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra
