Question
Read Article 1, “Individual Differences in Two-Year-Olds' Curiosity in the Assessment Setting and in the Grocery Store” in the Study Guide, and then answer the following questions:
What is the area of study?
What is already known about this topic?
What is the experiment and what is expected to be learned?
What are the variables?
Which of the psychological experiment tools did these researchers use?
What conclusion was reached by the research report?
What cautions/future research was identified?
Read Article 2, “Online Education: A Study of Academic Rigor and Integrity” in the Study Guide, and then answer the following questions:
What is the area of study?
What is already known about this topic?
What is the hypothesis?
How was the data collected?
What conclusion was reached by the research report?
What cautions/future research was identified?
Explanation / Answer
Ans 1. The area of study is the curiosity of two-year-old children having different view and opinions at a grocery store.Which shows us the difference in the two children for the same place about the assesment of the things at the store.
2.Psychological researchers already know that the study of different behaviour of two year old children is possible and has been done during laboratory session with parents and peers. They were able to predict the behaviour of this age group children.
3. The experiment is about diffrentiating and to clarify that the scores obtained by two year children on a laboratory assesment of curiosity and their exploration in the real life setting of a grocery store is very different at scoring. The researchers in this study are trying to find out the correlation between the different behaviour acquired at laboratory and in normal life setting.
4. “Relationship between the mother’s behavior in the grocery store and the child behaviouron later exploration in the assessment situation.”
5. The researchers used three psychological experiment tools in this experiment.
“systematic noting and recording of events.”
“assignment of numerical values to objects or events or their characteristicsaccording to conventional rules.”
test a hypothesis that particular behavioral events will occur reliably in certain, specifiable situations.
6. Researcher concluded thatthere is significant correlation between child’s exploratory behavior in the assessment setting and his curiosity and exploratory behavior in the grocery store. As well as the mother’sbehavior significantly affected the child’s exploration assessment and in the grocery store.
7. The caution for future research are that the the behaviour of mother, environment affect a lot the behaviour and assessment ability of such small children. So they must be treated very properly in order to nurture their assessment power.
