Ans 13. Most antipsychotic drugs antagonize.....5-HT2a...... receptors.
Antipsychotic drugs are drugs which treat schizophrenia like disorders. Recent researches have proved that 5HT or serotonin is a neurotransmitter which causes schizophrenia. This means that binding of 5HT to 5-HT2a is the root cause of schizophrenia. If an antipsychotic drug is applied, then it will disrupt the binding by opposing the action of 5-HT2a receptor.
