Question
I have a quick question about both solutions:
1. in 2-24: why do they divide the 10 ppmv by 10^6 m^3? what does 10^6 m^3 represent and where does it come from?
2. similarly, in 2-25, when they rearrange the eq to solve for conc ppmv, why do they multiply by 1m^3/10^6 m^3? its confusing that right before rearranging the eq this term is not included? how can you even have 1 m^3 per 10^6 m^3 if they have the same units this makes no sense to me at all
thank you!
224 Determine the concentration in g/m3 of 10 ppm, (by volume) of trichloroethylene (TCE) (C2HCls) at standard conditions (0°C and 1 atm 2-25 If the concentration of TCE at standard conditions (0°C and 1 atm) is 15 Hg/m3, what is the corresponding concentration in ppm, (by IS volume)?Explanation / Answer
Actually ppm means parts per million
=Quantity/10^6
So in the both case there is a multiplication of 1/10^6
Is done for it's actual mean what it is.
