Which two examples, from the following list of four, are mix [Ice Cream, Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Chicken Broth, Potassium Chlorid a) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) & Chicken Broth b) Ice Cream & Potassium Chloride (KCl) c) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) & Ice Cream d) lee Cream & Chicken Broth e) Potassium Chloride (KCl) & Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Which two examples, from the following list of four, are mix [Ice Cream, Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Chicken Broth, Potassium Chlorid a) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) & Chicken Broth b) Ice Cream & Potassium Chloride (KCl) c) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) & Ice Cream d) lee Cream & Chicken Broth e) Potassium Chloride (KCl) & Carbon Dioxide (CO2)Explanation / Answer
Compounds are those which are made from more than one element combine together and are held together eby some forces. Here a type of reaction is taking between two or more elements to form a compound which is completely indistinguihable if we take some amoumt of it we cannot differentiate or separate them. For Example Carbon reacts with Oxygen to form Carbon dioxide which is a compound, now we cannot separate them all of the carbon dioxide will look same.other examples of compounds are Potassium Chloride. Here potassium and Chloride ion are held together by ionic bonds to form KCl, so when we take some amount of KCl it will loook the same we cannot separate them into different constituents.
Mixture:- when two or more substances are mixed together to form a solution it can be of two types homogenous and hetrogenous.
In homogenous it is a single phase we can differentiate or separate the constituents which were added. For example when sugar is dissolved in water now it forms a solution now after forming the mixture we cannot take the suagar out from water.
Hetrogenous mixture :- this is not uniform or in one single phase as the constituents may vary in their shape and size.gor example the salad which fruit salad which consists of cucumber and apples now they are mix together they form a mixture which is at all uniform since by looking only we can distinguish between cucumber and apples, by simply removing apples or cucumber we can separate them from the mixture.
Here carbon dioxide and KCl are compounds.
Chicken broth and ice cream is a mixture.
Chicken broth is a hetrogenous mixture since we can separate the chicken from the soup or water present.
Similaraly ice cream is a homogenous mixture because we cannot separate ice cream into diiferent constituents it look almost same whatever amount we take.
(a) carbon dioxide is compound chicken broth is mixture.
Hence this is wrong as both are not mixtures
(b) icecream is a mixture whereas potassium chloride is a compound .
Hence this is also incorrect
(c) carbon dioxide is a compound whereas ice cream is a mixture.
(d) both ice cream and chicken broth are mixture.
Hence this is correct
(E) Both Potassium chloride and Carbon dioxide are compounds.
