Determining an outlier: 1.0g/ml true density of water Data Collected Range : .90 - 1.1 I have identified .90 as an outlier. My question: Are data values greater than 1.0 (true value)also considered outliers? Do you excluded outliers from datacalculations (i.e. Standard Deviation, Average)? outlier are defined as the sample minimumand the sample maximum. The 1.1 is asmuch an outlier as the .90 is. Now to exclude them from thedata calculations is not concidered usally a very goodpractice. They should be included in your data calculations,but you can make a special note that these are outliers.
