Question: We have Microsoft's Windows, Bell Labs Unix, Open Source Linux, and a collection of other operating systems. Now that you have had your first look at Unix, why do we need different operating systems?
ANSWER (respond to this): The reason for why we need to use different operating systems even though they essentially perform the same task of managing how the computer functions, is because the functions of different machines are different. Some computers function as servers, thus, they need an operating system that is geared towards optimization of this task, such as Windows Server or Linux. Other machines are used more for content creation that requires a touch screen capability along with a friendly GUI, whereas, a good choice for these type of machines could be a Mac OS. Furthermore, for users who would like to have a somewhat versatile machine with some network management capabilities, could benefit from a Windows Operating System.

The answer is correct. Different machines may requires different OS depending on the type of application and the work for which the computer will be used. Based on the user requirement and the functions is has to perform Hardware and OS should be decided for the computer.
