Before IVP test we give some medicine to clear your bowels to provide a better view of the X-ray
You need to empty your bladder right before the procedure starts
Before test inject an iodine-base contrast into vein in your arm, for series of X-ray images. This is to see how the parts are working and also for how kidney remove the dye and how it collects the urine
A compresson device may be used to keep the contrast material in the kidney
The test may take upto an hour you need to lie still during the procedure
Finaly after test you should say to drink plenty of fluids to remove contrast dye
