2ans) In ferns water is necessary for the fertilization. In ferns two are present in the prothallus, egg cells and sperm. sperms are released from the prothallus when prothallus came in contact with water. later sperms are attracted by chemicals which are secreted by eggs. later fertilization occurs.
3ans) In gymnosperms water is not necessary for the fertilization. Gymnosperms produces two types of cones, male cone and female cone. Male cone produces pollen grains and female cones produces ovules. pollen grains reaches the ovules by air and fertilization occurs prducing zygote.
4) In angiosperms water is not necessary for the fertilization. In angiosperms stamen produces the pollen grains and stigma contains the ovules. pollen grains are transported from stamen to stigma through air where fertilization occurs.
