The subcutaneou route is the one of the most versatile routes for administration that can be used for both short term and long term therapies .The injection of drug or implantation of a device device made in loose interstial tissue of he upper arm,anterior surface of the thigh or lower portion of the abdomen ,the subcutaneous tissue is influenced by the same factors that determine rate of absorption from the intramuscular sites ,how ever the vascularity of the subcutanoues tissue is less than that of the muscle tissue therefor absorption is lower than the intramuscular .the drug should be given in small amounts and it should be soluble.
