Question
For my lab, we conducted Ester synthesis to create peach oil. At the end of the lab, we conducted IR and printed off our spectrums to analyze. However, we weren't instructed on how to read them to determine anything. Please help.
I need to detail if the peaks confirm presence of an ester and comment on any absent peaks that indicate unreacted alcohol or carboxylic acid (esp in the hydroxyl region).

In IR spectrum the ester peak appears at 1710 to 1740 Cm-1., while hydroxy and carboxylic acid OH peak shows broad peak in IR near 3200 to 3400 Cm-1 region. The IR spectrum attached here shows peak at 1735 Cm-1 while there is no any broad peak at 3200 to 3400 Cm-1 region. So it confirms the complete conversion of hydroxy and carboxylic acid to ester.
