Explanation / Answer

a)The property of oil that allows it to float in water is it's DENSITY. Oil is less dense than water and dose not mix with water, allowing the oil to float on water.

b)As air is heated it expands and will become less dense than the cool surounding air that is more dense allowing the hot air to rise

c)The difference between density and specific gravity is that one is a ratio of the other, density is the measure of the amount of mass per volume.

Specific gravity is a comparison of the density of an object with the density of water (1.00 g/mL at 4 degrees celsius)

*** Specific gravity is a number with no units, the units of density canceled each other out.

density = mass of sub / volume of sub

Specific gravity = denisity of a sub(g/mL) / desnisy of water (1.00g/mL)

d)  It allows you to see a change in the data which you can use to predict a trend or track other noteworthy details.

Graphs turn raw data into easy to understand pictures for quick examination
