Question
Describe an incident where you conformed to group norms due to normative influence and one where you conformed to group norms due to informational influence. Are there any generalizations that can be made about the kinds of examples provided by the topic? For example, is informational influence more likely to occur with respect to facts and normative with respect to issues with preferences?
This is a psychology topic, but it didn't have the subject listed. hopefully someone can help me out still.
Explanation / Answer
Informational influence is a condition in which people are not aware and unable to determine the correct mode of behavior, as a result people surrounding them who are expected to be aware of the situation leads/drives the information regarding this.
In normative influence it leads to conformity. It can be said as unwritten rules which govern human/group of peoples behavior. An example of this is men and women body shape. As society describes the shape of a women and under pressure she accepts it. And men to be muscular and fit hence he undergo the same pressure to full fill it.
