Answers must be given with appropriate units e correct number for significant digits is prepared by dissolving 25.00 g of copper(ll) chloride in water and diluting to a final of 500. mL. volum What is the molarity of the solution? r0o Cuc 134.45 Cuclh Cuci b. If 25.00 of the solution is diluted to 125. mL, what is the molarity of the diluted solution? re 2. A solution contains 0.253 g of calclum cyanide in 2.00 L a. What is the concentration of this solution in parts per million? .00 oo b. What is the concentration of cyanide ion in this solution? How many mL of this solution must be diluted to prepare 250. mL of a solution with a cyanide ion concentration of 15 ppm? C. SP 2017 CHE 132 Reactions &NIE; Page 9 of 14Explanation / Answer
Ans 1 :
a) Number of moles of CuCl2 = 25.00 / 134.45 = 0.186 mol
Molarity = no. of moles / volume of solution in L
M = 0.186 / 0.500
= 0.372 M
So the molarity of the solution is 0.372 M
b) Using the formula M1 V1 = M2 V2
where M is molarity and V is the volume of solution ,
putting all the values we get :
0.372 x 25.00 = M2 x 125.
M2 = 0.0744 M
So the molarity of the diluted solution will be 0.0744 M
