Explanation / Answer

1) When a cucumber is placed in a strong salt solution, exo-osmosis of water from cucumber will take place. Solvent (water) moves from its region of high concentration (cucumber cells with very little electrolytes) to its region of low concentration (salt solution).

2) Cell membranes are semipermeable so as to allow only selective or size specific molecules to move in and out of the cell. This prevents entry for unwanted molecules to enter the cell.

3)The process of movement of a solvent from its region of high concentration ( low solute concentration region) to its region of low concentration (low solute concentration region ) is called osmosis.

Dialysis is the process of filtration /removal of excess fluids, salts and waste from blood with the help of machines ,outside human body on account of kidney failure.
