Question

please help with limiting reagent and theoretical yield. Not sure if I did it correctly. I thought the theoretical yield is the product moles * mw of product. is the limiting reagent the product? also, interpret IR. Thanks!

Note: Attach an IR spectrum for your product to this report. Identify au peaks you can on the spectrum Aldehyde Used de Crude yield obtained 1.13 obtained for crude product Lt MP obtained for recrystallized product. Complete the Reagent Table for the Aldehyde ou used in the Green Synthesis Compound formula MW mass (g) W) (gimL) Egl density) Aldehyde acetophenone C, s sodium XXXXX hydroxide product 2.22. 2- 13 ketone Limiting Reagent aintoone Theoretical yield 12 mol lim reagent x Mw produc) lg obtainedltheoretical yield)" 100) Percent yield (crude): Show calculations: ruutho aldehyde you used

Explanation / Answer

Reaction of p-anisaldehyde + acetophenone

Limiting reactant = acetophenone

Theoretical yield of product = moles of acetophenone x molar mass of product

                                             = 0.005 x 238.28 = 1.2 g

So your calculation is correct

Percent yield = 1.13 x 100/1.2 = 94.17 %
