a) If the boiling point of solvent is 78 oC

Solubility of sulfanilamide at 78 oC = 210 mg/ml

So for dissolving 650 mg of sulfanilamide we would need = 650/210 = 3.1 ml solvent

b) when cooled at 20 oC,

mass of sulfanilamide recrystallized = (650/3.1) - 24 = 185.7 mg/ml

From 3.1 ml solution = 3.1 x 185.7 = 575.7 mg

c) solubility of at 0 oC = 14 mg/ml

amount of sulfaniliamide recrystallized = 185.7 - 14 = 174.7 mg/ml

Total sulfanilamide recovered by recrystallization = 174.7 mg/ml (0.1747 g/ml)

Actual sulfanilamide recovered from 3.1 ml = 3.1 x 174.7 = 541.6 mg (0.5416 g)
