Question
a) What is the potential difference across the R1=11ohms resistor in the if R2=24ohms ?
b) What is the potential difference across the R2=24ohms resistor in the figure if R1=11ohms?
Im not sure I quite understand this problem yet. Please show your work i dont just want the answer I want know understand how to solve it as well.

Im not sure I quite understand this problem yet. Please show your work i dont just want the answer I want know understand how to solve it as well.Explanation / Answer
since R1 and R2 are in series
Rnet in series = R1+R2 = 11+24 = 35 ohms
so current i = V/R = 15/35 = 0.428 A
================================================
remeber this:
since same current passes throguh various elements in series combination
and
same voltage exixts across various elements in parallel combination
==================================================
we get
V across R1 = iR1 = 0.428 * 11 = 4.71 Volts
--------------------------------------
V across R2 = iR2 = 0.428* 24 = 10.272 Volts
