2.
The manager of a new carpet store is hiring. The data showed that on average a worker can install 271 yards per hour (capacity). Considering providing reasonable breaks the manager hired 18 workers to make sure they can complete 20,000 yards each 8 hours day. What is the labor utilization? Just fill in the number, no unit, no formula, no explanation, and no %. Keep two decimal points. For example, if your answer is 56%, fill in as 0.56. Do the rounding only at the last step to make sure your number is accurate enough.

Explanation / Answer
1) Productivity = Output per period/ No of hours employees at work
=1659/4 = 414.75 installs per hour
The crew size 5 has the higher productivity then the remaining crew size. So i recommend crew size 5
2) labor utilization = (Actual output/ capacity)100
Actual output = 20,000
worker can install 271 yards per hour
Per 8 hours = 271 * 8 = 2168 yards
Total labor Capacity = 18*2168 = 39024 yards
labor utilization = (20,000/39024)*100 = 51.25%
Crew size hours of work yards installed Productivity 2 2 1659=1659/4 = 414.75 installs per hour
3 3 3900 =3900/9 = 433.33 installs per hour 4 2 3120 =3120/8 = 390.00 installs per hour 5 1 2290 =2290/5 = 458.00 installs per hourRelated Questions
