Topic TD Canada

What is governemnt regulation like in your company's industry? Does the government employ any regulation designed to ensure that competition is healthy or the rights and welfare of consumers is protected. Would you support governments breaking up companies if they become too powerful? Why or why not? Be sure to discuss how consumer and societys welfare are impacted by firms that exhibit market power? Do you think that governments should always, as a rule, reduce market power of firms that exhibit market power (in order to protect consumer welfare) or should firms be able to grow to be large and power (such as Microsoft)? Would breaking up large companies as a rule eliminate incentives to work hard?

topic is TD Canada

Explanation / Answer

There is no government regulation in my industry, because TD Canada government not made the regulation for the companies instead of that government and industries are working under MOU(Memorandum of Understanding) to achieve the main aim to control the pollution in TD Canada; this MOU is   working better than the normal government regulation, this result made all the industry to make environment legislation with the government as primary activity.

In further, canada government creating alert to its citizen come consumers and protecting them by enacted laws such as consumer product safety act, Food Safety and Inspection Act, Consumer and packaging Labeling Act etc. By this acts the rights and welfare of consumers is protected because Canada government have been using competition Act, to avoid price fixing and violated advertisement.

NO need to breaking the company if government considered that the company developed as powerful, because government should not get fear with anybody because it has established for providing public welfare so focus in the under developed area to becoming as developed area in the TD Canada, if company becoms more big it will provide more employment, Give the certain amount to GDP, if the company engaged with export it bring money for the government, these are benefits by the company then why government should break up.

I don't think government should always rule because government has made through election to protect the public, though government also make lot of acts to protect the consumers / public to avoid the firm's competition this aim to be achieved by the government firm's and consumers cooperation is needed, if the firms started to maintain the discipline it will protect the public welfare.
