Question

You're a nursing home administrator, the nursing home owner gives two directives that he would like you to follow, what should you do? how would you respond to these directives?

1. You are to increase part-time staff by 5% across the board in order to save money on benefits that must be paid to full-time employees.

2. The facility does not have enough rehabilition residents. Talk to the therapists and have them "loosen" their criteria for what qualifies as rehabilition so we can recieve a higher rate of reimbursement.

what should you do? how would you respond to these directives?

Explanation / Answer

I think first directives can be consider as it focus on managing cost but i have to limit it the level so that it would not cause serious damage to employees benefits because if it will do then it create dissatifaction among employee which may lead to increase in attrition thus normal functioning of home administrator may get impact.Morover, permanent employee have greater sense of responsibility toward their job thus are more productive and profitable for comapny in lomg run.

I think second directive is unethical. the criteria has been decided and approved by medical council and should not be tampered. It may cause seriuos damage when audit will happen .
