There are mostly commercial reasons for employers and have expectation from their employees will work efficiently and will utilize resources of company and the working time for assigned work only. Employers want to monitor quality utilization of working time along with quality work and employees’ performance, work discipline at work place and right use of their property.

Incivility at workplace
It is kind of abuse or rudeness at work place. It doesn’t involve physical violence or physical harassment only, but it is lack of respect for other employees. It is culture in organization for individuals who are interacting, working together, to behave in a civil way. It is also important for employees to treat their customers and other external parties interacting with an organization with respecting manner and politely.

Furthermore employer can monitor emails to prevent an employee opening a suspicious or malicious emails.
