5. Why do we say that light travels in wavelengths? What is a wavelength of light?
6. What is a photon of light?
7. In the electromagnetic spectrum of light, a very small percentage of wavelengths are visible light. Why/How can we see these wavelengths?
Explanation / Answer
a) Light-dependent reactions in thylakoids and Light-independent in stroma of Chloroplasts.
Light has wave nature also, so we say it travels in wavelengths. Its wavelength is 390-700 nm i,e, that of visible light.
Photon is the basic unit of light or we can say energy packet of EM radiations.
We see these wavelengths because our eyes have specialized cells to receive these wavelengths i.e. cones. We see them when any object around us reflect a particular wavelength after absorbing the rest part of the spectrum.
