Organizational performace has been increased due to the following reasons - better and more coordinated teamwork, enhanced productivity, improved employee morale and making the leadership skills stronger. The relationship between the workers and the management has improved due to higher employee involvement.
2. At FedEx employees are encouraged to be innovative and are encouraged to continously improve their performance. For this purpose the organization readily provides information and technology that the employees require. The hard work of the employees is acknowledged and appreciated. All these factors motivates the members of Federal Express to remain highly engaged in their teams.
3. FedEx managers play a vital role in facilitating team effectiveness. They engage the employees in goal setting process. The role of a manager is that of a facilitator and the task of setting goals as well as looking for solutions is done by the team.
4. The teams are self managed teams, customer services teams, team for technology integration and quality improvement teams. Group performance is reinforced at FedEx by presenting the teams a monthly award called the Circle of Excellence. This award is given to the best FedEx station.
5. Leaders at FedEx empowers the teams and encourages the teams to pursue innovation and find solutions on their own. The leaders acts as a facilitator and helps the team to realize the common interests, and how to pursue these interests in a symbiotic way. This helps in creating synergy. Trust is generated along the way as well.
