Organizations are expected to encourage ethical behavior among their employees. Most companies do; unfortunately, some do not. Imagine that you work as a salesperson for one of these unethical companies. Your employer not only encourages unethical behavior but he or she bases your review and compensation upon your compliance with these practices through a system commonly referred to as “rank-and-yank.”
Your manager has made it clear that neither poor performance nor questions about the company’s business practices will be tolerated. You know the manager is not bluffing; you have seen coworkers who openly disagreed with company policy be bullied and intimidated by management, or ultimately fired. You know you have to play by the company’s rules if you want to get ahead keep your job—even if that means going against what you know is right. If you are like most people, losing your job will cause a hardship. Therefore, you might be tempted to rationalize behavior you would not otherwise accept in yourself or others.
Prepare your answer incorporating the following. Do not answer in question and answer format. Use graduate level writing style, and prepare an essay.
How might you rationalize your behavior if you worked for this company?
Make a list of specific justifications you might use to rationalize the unethical behavior your company expects. A whistleblower from within your company has alerted CNN. The interviewer is asking you to discuss how your job, pay increases, and bonuses have been based on clearly unethical practices. While preparing for the interview, compare your list of rationalization points.
Also be sure to discuss the following points:
Does it matter if you are a single parent with two children in college, or a head of household who has was downsized and out of work for over a year?
Would it matter if these practices were being investigated for their legality?
Who, ultimately, holds accountability for your actions as an employee?
Use literature to support your observations and opinions. Whether you are a manager or a leader, or both, you will rely upon more than opinion to make decisions.

The Organization is following unethical professional practices in carrying out its business and if we can understand then the company is successful in maintaing its existence.Focus on intolerence of poor performance is one such area where company is quite clear. Performance is most of the time is in individual hand's and thus a person in such environment will have to be on its toes.There may be the instances where due to external factor things doesn't work as expected and good performance in last months or years and diplomatically handling of situation can save the individual from bearing the company's brunt.Thus it is better to keep yourself in good list of immediate boss which may help in such scenario.Another rationalization can be made in tolerance level,it is sometime good to be blind faced in some of the situation or not interfere in other's business until and unless asked especially the person expects support to speak against boss.these type of behavior help us to focus on our work and not being involved in company's politics.Questioning Company's practises is another area which seems to be very delicate and need to handle with care.It is sometime frustrating to following some of the company policies which in no sense help in sorting out the problem but making the situation more worse but one need to understand the policy and company expectation and try to find out the loopholes if possible . It has been observed that such company who are not serious about their own policies and individual are creating their own process depending upon the situation ,such process has multiple lood holes and can be easily tricked.It will always be good to keep the things simple,informed and siuting the boss interest. It is always better to keep trying for the new job so that one should have option of quitting the comapany.
On giving interview to CNN representative:
It is always a difficicult for someone who has complete responsibilty of the house to be jobless.In those istuation where you cannot see your familiy member to suffer and you yourself are suffering from high stress and daily fights ,it is better to join a company where u are getting a job in response to shift in work attitude.It is always be satisfying to have job in tough condition where compromose with professional practises to be made.I always see it as a part of new job description which has different working style which is a tough one where you have to follow your boss then what is ethically right.One should focus one its own job and try to work extra mile to avoid bad performance.Considering it is never a option where you can question company's policy or process.It will be fine with me If these practices which are ethically wrong in company will be investigated as long as i am not directly or indirectly related with it because any legal action against company may result in loss of job which i cannot afford at this point of time.If the things are not a part of company policy then it will be me who is accountable fot my actions as an employee.
