Competencies are defined components of a successful workers repertoire (p. 105). In HR the understanding of competencies which includes many skills and characteristics may boost the recruiters ability to properly appraise, train, and develop new employees and candidates. There are several core compentency's that I believe are general and necessary in all positions or roles. These competency's include team work, motivation, leadership, communication, decision making, and responsibility. The most important core competency that is useful out of a candidate is leadership . Leadership is the process by which one individual consistently exerts more impact than others on the nature and direction of group activity. Leadership is the most important core competency because a person with leadership traits can steer the organization out of difficult situation and help the organization to survive.
