1. Explain why external validity is important if you are conducting a study on the effectiveness of aspirin in persons who are in the midst of having a stroke. You can give an example to explain the situation. DO NOT define external validity to apply the concept to the study.
Answer :
See External validity means the particular research that we have completed.Now we are applying the research on the area which is not a part of our sample.That means we are generalizing our research. Now in above examples , Aspirin is studied on sample undertaken .But now the case is that the applicant is generalizing the application to users which are not part of samples.
Now when its external validity , we have to be aware about the patient conditions.
Patients conditions differ in following factors
1) BP level
2) Glucose Level
3) The thickness of the blood
4) Physical condition of the patient
5) Body support
etc
Now all above condition changes time to time with ever patient.Now as being this is external validity & case like stroke , researcher has to think all the factors critically. Because external validity means generalization of treatment at a mass level. So care , precaution is at most important.
