The more companies push into global markets, the greater the pressure on their leaders to alter the company core strategies. As companies enter developing countries , in particular, short term profits can often be increased by cutting quality or services.
Even if you are not in a position to dismantle your company's core strategies , you may be tempted to criticize your company's strategies and your leaders.The farther the leader is from home , the graeter the temptation to pander to local appetites for scandal or dissension.
Short term cmpromises in matters of environmental degradation, bribery,shoddy product quality, abusive labor practises may bring temporary benefits for the misguided decision maker and his business unit but invariably cost dearly in the longer run by tarnishing the company's reputation in the eyes of customer and government authorities
