I believe that the Principles of Management provided me with valuable information, which will help in furthering both my professional as well as personal life. From this class I learned that as a manager, you have the responsibility to lead, supervise, mentor and motivation to others, and the ability to do so effectively makes a huge difference to your company's overall success. I now have a whole other perception in which I can view anything and how to correctly and more efficiently analyze and think. Planning is the decision making process that is involved right from the advancement of any project and it deals with the things that are to be done for implementing a project. It contains details like what is to be done, how it is to be done, and who should be assigned to do the given task.
When identifying the role and responsibilities, Dr. Szymoniak consistently demonstrated commitment to the development of all students. He applied knowledge effectively about how students will develop a variety of strategies for controlling processes as a manager. Dr. Szymoniak has very good interpersonal skills to explain the subject in a simple and organized way, which will make any student comfortable and confident about the subject. Also lectures were short, but focused on trying to teach the material and concerned about the student’s comprehension. Good class exercises help develop critical thinking. His method of using class interaction and response to come to a solution to a problem was engaging and informative. I felt I learned so much more by hearing many different approaches to solving a problem.
One of the biggest difficulties not only this class but with all my classes would be time management. Completing assignments on time is still a challenge to me, but I’ve learned to use planning and forecasting to better manage my classes and the workload. I am able to identify the goals that are to be achieved. It has also helped me determine which load of action I should follow in order to reach my goals and manage my time in an efficient manner.
Working at Wal-Mart really pushed my ethics skills to their max as well as taught me a great deal of patients with people. I loved the environment and collaborating with others to get jobs done. With group work a key part of this courses, I have built up my teamwork and leadership skills, and I’m able to demonstrate my ability to consider all things related to establishing business and marketing skills. I’ve never thought of myself as a team leader, but because the class used groupthinking in more than one occasion, I found that I am a good leader. I communicate my ideas to the group while trying to balance the ideas of others so the group can come to an agreed upon decision. Working in an online group activity can present many challenges. Not being able to see your classmates face to face was sometimes difficult to establish relationship with the group. Having to wait for the group to arrange meetings, meet, respond, and make decisions correctly did take up time that could have been used for the assignment.
Finally, I have taken a lot away from the class and have already began using the techniques taught throughout the course and applied them to my other classes and at work. I have enjoyed this class because it opened my eyes to who I really am as a person. I have learned about my preferred learning style, which is business. I have become more confident and goal-oriented. My organizational skills have improved greatly. I am looking forward to the rest of my college experience after completing this course. Once I finishing the BMT program, I am hoping to continue my career in Wal-Mart as a assistant manager or a store manager.

The first and foremost aspect of the principles is that of planning as well as forecasting. Planning as an aspect helps individuals and organizations to look ahead and to foresee. Forecasting means to assess the future and then to make provisions for it. You can use planning and forecasting to better manage your classes and the work load. You will be able to identify the goals that you have to achieve. It will also enable you to determine which line of action you should follow in order to reach your goal and manage your time in an efficient manner.
The second principle is that of organizing. To organize means to arrange different things in an optimal manner. This step will want you to take clear decisions. Decisions should not be ambiguous. You should be in proper control of the situation.
The third principle is that of commanding. As a leader of a group of students involved in group thinking, you should be able to guide, mentor and steer your group in such a manner that the group thinking is an efficient process. You will also have to co-ordinate the efforts and actions of different members of the group so as to be able to create a harmonized synergy.
By following the principles of management, you will be able to manage your time more efficiently. As a leader of your learning group, you should form a schedule and adhere to the schedule strictly. Then start a discussion involving all the team members to identify those activities that are unnecessary or not very important. This will help in saving valuable time. Lastly, develop methods that will reduce interruptions.
Lastly, effective problem-solving and decision-making will help you to develop applications for your other classes. Try and improve the quality of your decisions. Your decisions should have a long term view, outlook and approach. Make in-depth quality assessments before taking any decisions. For problem solving, use tools like brainstorming and group problem solving to come out with better solutions in a quick time.
So, the course will help in further honing and sharpening various soft skills. You will get to learn different management techniques and principles like how to communicate effectively, how to handle a team under different situations, how to make optimal decisions. All these lessons, techniques and principles will help you in your professional life and you will be able to apply the principles in your career at Wal-mart or any other organization that you are working in. The course will also help you better handle the learning requirements and the pressures of other classes (in terms of leading learning groups, time management, monitoring the efforts of members of the learning groups etc.)
