Define the concept of critical thinking in your own words. Discuss a time in either your work or personal life in which you needed to be able to use critical thinking to either solve a problem or acquire a skill. Determine the manner in which you would show a potential employer that you possess solid critical thinking skills. Give your opinion on whether or not you believe that individuals can increase their critical thinking skills. If you believe that they can, explain certain steps that individuals can take to improve this skill.

Explanation / Answer

Critical thinking is the ability to interpret information from the available data and then use the same information to arrive at sound decisions

During my stint at XYZ Inc as responsible to recruit researchers for Research unit , the requirement that came was from the headquarters to hire researchers and the job title provided was Associate .

One of the major obstacle expereince during this recruiting drive was ,while our target candidate were PHD holders or doctorate in research , the job title we presented was of an associate.

This created a title bottleneck in our hiring efforts and regardless of the brand , it was becoming difficult to convince prospective candidate to take up the job.

After a thourough critical evvalutaion both of our competitiors and the job market , we concluded that in the Indian context a job title does make a huge difference also that our target candidate were from academia and we need to change the title to suit the seniority and experience of the candidates we sought

Opinion -Indidividual can increase their critical thinking skills , but is not that easy as it sounds , it requires extensive training and knowledge to learn the approach and framework of critical thinking patterns and arrive at decision

It might also require to learn some basics of data analysis to understand the logical

For some this may be an inherent skill , but others can hone it by undertaking relevant study on it
