Arrival of trucks as well as service time for trucks are probabilistics and thus the first step is to fit the probability functions for both arrival and service times as follows:

In order to simplify the calculations and use of two digit random numbers allocations for simulation purposes, let us approximate probabilities to two digits as follows:

After allocation of random numbers to the variables of tnterarrival time and service times, next step is to generate random numbers.

Let us assume random numbers for arrival are : 5, 25, 68, 32, 89 and for service times are 24, 55,8, 79,37

Based on above random numbers, simulated analysis is as follows: (Assume docking begins at 9AM)

From above table of simulation exercise, Five trucks arrived between 9AM and 10.05AM ( four between 9AM to 10AM), Average waiting time for service = 1 minute ( 5/5) Service team was idle for 15 minutes for the said period but 10 minutes between 9AM to 10AM.
