When maintaining a career management plan it is important to adapt and change the plan to the demands of the 21st Century economy. How we interact, respond and connect in all our relationships will impact our present performance and future opportunities. Networking uncovers more than 70% of current job openings. The process of career management does not happen over a night time. Infact it doesn not even happen whenever you want to find a new job. It is quite obvious that when someone is through the transition phase from one job to another almost all the time and energy is focused on updating resumes, netwworking and collecting potential references. The only solution or the best probable way to find the next great position is to be prepared and stay at the top of the game.

The question to be asked here is if its the necessary action only when you are looking for a new job? What about someone who is currently employed and consider their job a much stable one? Thesse set of people since are are least engaged, tend to miss out on some of the great opportunities. One needs to to be at par with the knowlede on what the current updates of organisation or industry in total. As a result career management is an ongoing process regardless of the fact whether an individual is employed or not.

Career management is a life long process where continuous investments aer made on the resources to acheive ones career objective or the goals. Its very much important as the lack of career management leads to frustrations, feelings of being lost and unable to find a suitable job in case of a job change.

Relationships and network

The quality of all those people who form a part of their network i.e Friends, colleagues, business partners, supplierss and managers. The manner in which we respond, interact and connect with our relationships, impact our present performance and future opportunies.

Networking also serves as the foundation for securing new clients, new businesses, or new jobs. As per CIPD, networking/relationship uncovers way more than 70% of the current job openings. Keeping a list of good connections helps to build good and healthy relationships. Just like in all the relationships, business networks needs a constant attention and has to be groomed periodically. an ongoing relationship means one has to be there all the time to help the others and not just to get some favour all out of a chance.

Lifelong Learning

If Maintaining relationship is one side of the career management then the other side has to do something or more with life long learning. An investment made so as to improve knowledge and skills is considered to be the best investment ever made. One has to grab each and every opportunity to learn and gather more and more experience.

One need not be through a job transition so as to be aware of the opportunities. Being prepared for a change makes all the difference that it requires. No doubt a focus on the day to day job performance is more important one has to consider the ultimate carreer objectives and goals on serious terms as well.
