The first step is to take the order from the customer. GPC can take orders from 150 customers per hour. The second step is to process the order for the customer. They can process orders for 200 customers per hour. The last step is to pack the orders and GPC can pack orders for 180 customers per hour. All operators must finish all orders before they go home at 8:00pm.

(a) What is the current maximum output of the entire process? (Assume no overtime)
(b) Given your answer for part a, how long will it take (in hours) the processing and packing operations if the operators work at their maximum capacity?
(c) Given your answer for part b, what is the maximum number of orders waiting to be packed?

a) The current maximum output of the entire process will be the number od orders taken = 150 per hour X 12 hours = 1800

b) The processing will take (1800/200) = 9 hours and the packing would take (1800/180) = 10 hours

c) Remaining hours = 2, orders per hour = 180

maximum number of orders waiting to be packed = 180 X 2 = 360
