In this unit, we have discussed a number of considerations related to communication, and special attention has been paid to the importance of nonverbal communication, particularly in organizational settings. As more and more methods of communicating in nonverbal manners have grown in popularity, it is important to gain a better understanding of some of the pitfalls associated with these.
Do you feel that the use of too much nonverbal communication hinders productivity in the public sector? Explain.
Explanation / Answer
Yes. I believe that the use of too much non verbal communication hinders productivity because it may happen that this type of communication may be interpreted in a different manner by the receiving entity and may create confusion as well. I personally believe that in verbal communication such risks can be avoided to a great extent and it is accepted by majority unlike the non verbal form of communication. Hence in public sector where the volume and importance of work is more, it is better to avoid such form of communication.
