As a team, we need to put together an operating budget for upper management. This operating budget project is for the company overall so we need a scope, detail, and timing. Explain what you need in order to get started on this operating budget project for the company.

The following are the major requirements and the questions that should be answered before designing the operating budget:
1. The weekly sales or revenue target: The budget is determined on the basis of the target sales or revenue numbers. Deoending on what is being prohected, the supply planning as per that need to be performed at the backed. It is critical to have the sales numbers, as the same would help backtrack the cost that needs to be mainted in order to attain the defined margins.
2. The target product lines: The focus product lines for the week need to be determined as per that the scope will be defined. It is important that the product lines are carefully and diligently chosen for the low pricing scheme keeping in consideration, the increased focus lines and those which are deprioritised for that week. This should also take in consideration the shelf life of the product lines.
3. The margins to be maintained: It is importanta that the margins targetted should be known as per that the pricing will be set. The items to go for discounting and low pricing will be determined hence, taking in considertaion the above two factors in tandem.
