Question
After raising four children and operating a local diner in Clarksburg, West Virginia for nearly forty years, the Hastings retired in an attempt to finally enjoy life. One of their dreams is to travel through Great Britain and Ireland, the mother countries of their ancestors. Because of their family and professional obligations (often working 80-hour workweeks), the Hastings have never been out of the U.S. and the only trips they have taken were rare, short camping trips with the kids or weekend trips to attend family gatherings and college graduation ceremonies.
In anticipation of this "trip of a lifetime," they have made an appointment with travel consultant Marie Boone, who is the daughter of a close friend. Carefully think about the Hastings' special needs. If you were Marie, how would you answer the following questions:
How would you handle their unique case?
What questions would you want to ask and what factors should you consider? Why?
How will these factors influence the advice you give the Hastings?
Explanation / Answer
How would you handle their unique case?
Because they are friends with the parents of Marie, this case should be threated special, making sure to have many options available, and provide the best possible price because they have worked hard their entire life and now they deserve to enjoy it.
Marie should prepar pictures and videos of Great Britain and Ireland to show to the Hastings so they can decide where to go.
Also, Marie shouldnt charge a high amount of money for preparing their trip,a after all they are good friends with her parents.
What questions would you want to ask and what factors should you consider? Why?
I would ask how many days or month they are planning to be away on their trip, the budget and what kind of activitites would they like to do and the method of transportation they prefer. Why? Because depending on the lenght of the trip we will make priority which cities or museums they want to visit, and the method of transportation because often some couples prefer to travel by train to enjoy to view of each city.
How will these factors influence the advice you give the Hastings?
It will influence in a big manner because depending on what they choose we will be able to adapt the best prices going to the places they want to visit, we can book with anticipation the train, car or plane or we will have enough time to search until the prices drop. There are places that offer you a discount if you stay more than 1 week,
