Offering your Best Ethical Advice In 2015 the Environmental Protection Agency discovered the car manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) had purposely installed sophisticated software on over 500,000 US vehicles to cheat on emissions testing. Imagine you are hired as a consultant to explain to the board of directors why this type of deceit is wrong. Also explain what ethical practices you would advise to ensure a more ethical workplace. Lastly, what kind of marketing campaign would you suggest to rebuild credibility and honesty among VW's customer base?

INTRODUCTION:
Volkswagen is one of the multinational automotive manufacturer companies in Germany. It is one of the well known automobile manufacturer company for its design, manufactures and distributes all types of vehicles like passenger, commercial, motorcycles and engines. Its headquarters are Wolfsburg, Germany .It was the world's largest automaker by its sales. It maintained the largest shares in the Europe over years. It ranked sixth in the fortune global 500 list of world's largest companies. Volkswagen manufactured different types of vehicles with best models like Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Skoda etc. The company is grown globally and operations around 150 countries throughout the world.The company are having 100 production facilities across 27 countries.
Being global organization and best producer in the automobile industry in 2015 Volkswagen is involved in emission scandal. This was one of the major drawbacks which is identified by the environmental protection agency and issues a notice to Volkswagen group. The reason behind this issue is Volkswagen intentionally programmed turbocharged direct injection diesel engine to activate the emission controls to meet the U.S standards. During the testing by the environmental agency the results were 40 times more in emission of NOx real world driving. This comes as the biggest cheat to customers Volkswagen programmed about eleven million cars worldwide and 500,000 in the United States.
Customer is one of the important people considered god for the organization. Serving customer is considered as serving to god in this case cheating a customer is like degrading the company moral values. Every organization basic rule in ethics is to treat and respect customer in always by producing the customer satisfactory and fulfilling the needs of the customer. But in this case Volkswagen completely fails to follow the basic ethics and violated the customer based ethics. As per the organizational laws and rules and regulation that are framed for the organization this considered the one of the major unethical procedure that is followed by the Volkswagen by cheating the customer and spoiling the environment. Which is not tolerated by any country or customer.
As a consultant I will explain the board of directors about the importance of customer, because this is intentionally happened and intentionally cheated the government and customers. Every organization basic principle is to save the organization ethics and rules. If they are not followed there is no need of framing the objective and goals of the organization. The organizations equal responsibility is to protect the environment by all it means.
Misguiding the customer will leads to wrong opinion on the organization and its products. Automatically the sales will get down completely and drops organization income and will face lot of consequences in further. Organization should believe the importance of its ethics and following. Customer trust is very important there are so many strategies and procedures are followed to gain the customer trust. If an organization like Volkswagen being a multinational company in automobile industry wills follow these unethical procedures. Think about the minor or small organizations.

The first thing that needs to be done by the Volkswagen by apology the customers. Organization head needs to address the need of following these methods. Because customer deception never plays in long run. After these kind of issues its very difficult for an organization to rebuild and gain the trust of customer. Its like starting a new industry and perform well to gain the trust of customers. Needs to do lot of campaigns and apply marketing strategies to frame a new standards for the organization.
