Explanation / Answer
Answer1: Unlike the traditional approaches for project management like waterfall mode, the Agile practice of project managemnt helps in boosting the business efficiency and productivity. It hepls in identifying and focus on high priority items . It ensures the best possible utilization of the available resources by the philosophy of fail fast.In real world the scope ,deliverables, assumptions are not very well defined in the very begingin of the project. If a linear and sequential model is followed then it may fall flat as the outcome may not be the same as desired/envisaged by the business users. However agile solves this issue by encompassing early and continuous delivery, close collaboration and interaction between all stakeholders, mechanism of periodic and quick feedback that resolves any potential misunderstanding and roadblocks so that the outcome/deliverable is as close as possible to the business needs. This ensures high efficiency and the efficiency is also measured using well established metrics.
Answer2: An analogy can be drawn to the scenario of workers working in a car manufacturing unit in shop floor. Applying the principles of Kanban every member in the manufacturing unit is aware of the exact status of the action items in a kanban board: To do, WIP, Completed processes. This helps them to organize better , identify the less efficient processes, the laggards and take suitable actions so that the focus is on high priority items always resulting in continual delivery.Effective communication and transparency are the keys to success as all team members are aligned. Similarly for Agile Kanban methodology as well the focus is on continual delivery by enabling effective communication between the project team members and keeping everyone aware of the status of the action items in a kanban board leveraging agile automated workflows.
Answer 3: Agile framework /methodology helps the project manager in efficient planning, scheduling , resource allocation and levelling, budget allocations. The project manager can measure the project progress extremely precisely ,identify patters, trends ,discrepancies and can take corrective actions proactively rather than being reactive and focus on bettter delivery. The various metrices leveraged by the project manager includes burndown charts, velocity, control chart , epic breakdown etc.
Answer 4:There may be competing, contrasting or complementary issues/challanges /benefits stated as below:
- Change of requirement by product owner/business user in the middle of sprint because of the nature of agile and flexibility vested to modify requirements to suit business needs.
- The functional point estimation of user stories, taks and sub tasks are highly subjective and there can be both over commitment or under commitment which nullifies the very purpose of agile framework.Over commitment may lead to missing of sprint deadlines and under commitment may lead to slacks in sprints.
- Improper breakdown of epics, user stories , tasks and sub tasks may lead to wrong estimates
-Frequent Scope creep because of low requirement stability
-Poor change management
- Efforts not loged in properly by the team members on day to day basis against each task and sub task.
- unforeseen integrations, external issues not considered at the time of estimation but surfaced and realized during the sprint progress
-Erratic cycle time
-The focus is more on progress rather than quality
Answer 5: Efficiency solves the problem of attaining project objectives with the allocated resources, within time and with desired quality. It enables root cause analysis , ensures that the focus is always on continual delivery and resources are focussed on high priority tasks by leveraging automated agile workflows, incremental releases and iterations.
Answer 6:Efficiency in agile esures better utilization of the available resources and better planning and allocation of resources. It minimizes wastage of resource and time.It increases transparency, project visibility and adapt according to the current project status. The automated workflows of agile help in root cause analysis, task prioritization and risk mitigation. The team members work in close collaboration and all other members need to agree to the work done by any member . The efficiency achieved has a cascading effect and the team as a whole can progress to next cycle upon completion of all team taks rather than basis individual meritrocracy . The efficiency helps in faster execution of the project, deliver better and more refined outcome due to incremental and iterative releases, complete project in time and with high quality.
