The following dataset is from an experiment that was designed to measure the heritability of seed weight in the Morning Glory, Ipomoea purpurea. A number of plants were chosen randomly from a base population to be maternal parents and to be paternal parents. Maternal and paternal parents were randomly paired for crossing, producing 16 full-sib families. The first column represents average seed mass (in mg) for the paternal and maternal parents of each family, while the second column represents the average seed mass for 10 offspring of each family.

these are randomly choosen, it can be estimated by the ratio of genotypic mean values to the phenotypic expression of the genes , so the mean genotypic value is 49.9   and mean phenotypic value is 57.7

so the ratio is 0.86 is the seed mass for each family  , 13.76 mass of the seed for the 16 sub families
