1-5s is a Japanese technique which seeks for continuous improvement in the process. It is also a part of greater lean technique. An organization can improve the quality if it follow the quality map and main thing is to inculcate changes when and where needed. We can take the example of Amazon, which have implemented 5s framework and through continuous improvement in the process it has improved the quality.
2-One of the S in 5s is about Shitsuke / Sustain and this tells that there should be a safe and sanitary work environment. By putting safety first as the motto organization are attaining the safest place to work and operate. The process given in 5s can be followed rigorously to sustain the process. When all the other 4’s will be implemented properly then automatically with little effort safety can be achieved in the workplace. We have seen organization like Toyota, Ford which have safest working environment due to methodological implementation of 5S.
3-In information management, we have seen that data spread over different places. If we implement 5S and the technique provided in this like Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize and Sustain can be used meticulously in information management. Information should be standardize and straighten in a proper format and place so that one can retrieve the info ration easily as and when needed.
