• What are the Business Law issues being addressed in the article/case?
The issue being discussed is individual’s right to privacy.
According to US law the Information privacy law does not allow the disclosure and information of private individuals. The information collected from individuals cannot be disclosed to a third party without the prior consent written from the individual.
Also if the intrusion has emotionally or physically harmed the individual, a civil law suit can be filed in the federal cour of law.
• What law is applicable to the article/case?
He has successfully proved that Face book is not protecting data against CIA/ FBI and US intelligence. Face book argument was that Schrems consumer protection in Europe.
· What is the probable outcome?
The expected outcome is that Face book will win as they will block his internet applications and keep his case under wraps. He does not have requisite support from public also. He can also not prove that it has harmed him physically or emotionally.
• As a business manager or owner, how will you use this information in your own business?
We will use this information to use social media without invading anybodys privacy. We will be diligent in our approarch on social media nad online marketing strategies.
• What is your reaction to the article?
We feel that we need more people like Schrem to highlight the invasive behavior of these social media sites. The social media sites will become more careful while unscrupulously using the private information uploaded by the consumers.
