Explanation / Answer
In everyday life every person faces some dilemma whether small or large it depends on the magnitude of the severity of the situation. One of the ethical dilemmas I have faced in my workplace which I could never forget is when I saw my co-worker harassing another employee sexually or physically. He was known to be the loyal employee of the organization having good performance records and most importantly he was the one whom I considered the best among all. We used to share all ups and downs in both our personal and professional lives. Now the ethical dilemma was whether to report about it to the superior or to remain quite for the sake of our friendship. But it was an offensive behavior which created a hostile work environment for that other employee who suffered harassment. Being ethical does not only mean abiding by your moral value but at the end it should solve the problem also. after all these dilemmas in my mind I decided to report it to my superior and requested him to kindly explain my friend the clear guidelines laid by the company against the harassment in the workplace in your own way either by making him feel guilty in front of all employees or do not qualify him for any rewards for few months unless he show his ethical behavior all these months under the employer’s supervision and give him one more chance given his loyalty and good performance rewards till now. Such reporting made him feel guilty about his behavior and it was a lesson for him for his entire life.
